Following a rather early start the band battled through snow and various accidents on the motorway to compete in the 2nd Section at the Midlands Area Contest in the Civic Hall, Bedworth.
Playing Darrol Barry's "Rise of the Pheonix", the band were given a number 3 draw. Despite the band playing really well, especially the three soloists - Emma Hunt (Principal Cornet), Karen Squires (Flugel), and Steve Cartlidge (Eb Bass), the adjudicators didn't like the performance and placed the band 12th out of the field of 13. This looks to mean that the band will be relegated to the third section for next year.
